I thought I would update you about the program that has just ‘dropped in’ for the Easter weekend. Anyone is welcome to any part of this celebration. As you would know Easter was initially a celebration of new life in the Spring, which is a bit tricky for us in the southern Hemisphere, but we can celebrate along with our Northern Hemisphere friends. Even more than that we can celebrate the profound life of Lord Jesus, his message of unconditional love and forgiveness. We can also celebrate the strength of His soul, which has guided and assisted so many of us over millennia.
On Friday morning we will have our usual Maha Abishekam but at the amended time of 10am. Thereafter we will spend Good Friday engaged in purification, discourse and chant. There will be no evening program.
On Saturday morning we will begin at 10am with a fire ceremony. If you have not attended one, they are very beautiful, the energy is amazing and transformative. These are devotional ceremonies sending love to the Divine. I am sure that the effects are getting stronger as we repeat the practices each week and each full and new moon.
Then following the fire ceremony we will have meditation, discourses and blessings.
There will be a break in the afternoon, and at 5.30pm we will have a special ‘bread and wine’ communion of Abishekam. We will use unfermented grape juice for this celebration so it is safe for everyone. We will add our own Nectar of the Gods and have special Easter blessed ‘wine’. There will be music with the harp and some help from Ganapati and Lalitha Durga also. Then we will have a pot luck dinner and social evening with maybe the odd game just for fun.
On Sunday morning at Satsang we will have an Easter egg hunt, so bring the kids and I am sure it will be fun. We will also have all the usual elements of satsang for the big kids.
There will be a session to close the retreat after morning tea following Satsang.
I hope you have an enjoyable and safe Easter.
